Summer Teacher Academy July 10 - Hattiesburg Public School District

As a model teaching and learning community, Hattiesburg Public School District is proud to offer our first Summer Teacher Academy during summer 2019. Sessions provided in the Summer Teacher Academy are developed to ensure teachers are equipped with an extensive range of knowledge using effective classroom practices. Professional development opportunities for the Summer Teacher Academy will include varying topics related to content and curriculum (ELA, mathematics, and science); multi-tiered systems for support; appropriate utilization of technology in the classroom; co-teaching models; and building a positive culture and climate.

Objectives:

1. Provide an extensive range of learning experiences necessary to become effective educators.

2. Offer a variety of educational tools for educators to develop the knowledge and skills expected to address students' academic needs.

3. Improve the quality of teaching and learning for educators to continue to strengthen their professional craft while impacting students' academic success.
